Keith Strangwood has been involved in local government for 13
years. During this time he has represented Banbury at Town,
District and County Council level. Keith is a hardworking family
man, he has 5 children aged between four and thirty years of
age all born and educated in the Banbury area.
Keith says, “After many years of witnessing injustice all levels
of council I decided it was time to get involved and speak out
to try to make all our futures better.”
Keith served as a Banbury town councillor for twelve years and served as deputy mayor in 2004 and 2011. Since 2009, has been the Oxfordshire county councillor representing the Banbury Ruscote division, where he has made a real difference for the area, working on projects and ensuring a fair deal for residents. Due to boundary changes, Keith has been asked to stand as candidate for the new
Calthorpe/Easington division.
Keith says, “It would be an honour to represent you at the County Council. If you decide to elect me, as your representative, I will as always be available to you in times of need and will continue to work proactively to improve services in the division and for all of Banbury.”

Keith Strangwood has been involved with local councils for
many years. Keith says, “Many local councillorsfail to speak out
when required and only seem to appear at election times.”
When our library’s were under threat, Keith set up public
meetings and helped to create library friends groups, to ensure
our library’s stayed open. When our post offices where under
threat Keith campaigned to keep them open.
When our town was threatened with ridiculous road schemes
and pretty much pedestrianisation everywhere, Keith campaigned
for a sensible upgrade for our town, one that the Banbury people
wanted.
Keith Strangwood is a strong supporter of the Banbury Horton Hospital.
He has worked with Cllr George Parish and the Keep The Horton General Group.
He delivered a petition with thousands of signatures in 2004, with George Parish and
members of the KTHG group, to Downing Street when the Horton services were once again
under threat in 2012.
Keith arranged for Cllr Parish and KTHG members to attend an
Oxfordshire Hospital and Overview Scrutiny Committee, to ensure Banburyhad a real voice
and its concerns were heard.
Keith says, “Our local hospital is the utmost priority. We will all need it at sometime in our
lives. I was appointed to the Oxfordshire Hospital Scrutiny Committee in 2012 and will if elected will ensure Banbury has a real voice regarding our much needed Hospital. “

Remember, when local Conservatives win, our whole community wins.

No water, but plenty of anger…
Entry from 'Disconnector' by Disconnector.
There has been a recent slew of reports suggesting that access to water is set to become a major issue in a number of areas of the world. Well as far as the great man can ascertain, the position is getting a bit fraught domestically. This isn't just a problem for faraway climes.
Take Banbury in Oxfordshire, for instance. During the mini-heatwave at the beginning of this month, Thames Water was faced with a major loss of supply incident when pumps at the Bretch Hill reservoir failed, leaving 4,000 households without water over a weekend.
Stocks of bottled water in local shops ran out quickly and the water company sent in emergency supplies in the shape of 68,000 bottles. Feelings ran high on the sprawling Bretch Hill estate, which was hardest hit by the loss of supply. One driver delivering water was forced to abandon his consignment of emergency bottled supplies after he was threatened by, well, a mob. Police were drafted in to calm things down and help with the distribution of water. Afterwards, local councillors complained that the company didn’t do enough to alert customers about the problem.
A company spokesman said the behaviour of some residents made “a tough situation worse”.
One local councillor, Keith Strangwood, told the local paper: “Thames Water’s handling of the problem was disgraceful."
“Twenty years ago it would have driven round the estate with loudspeakers, but on this occasion the elderly or vulnerable only had the options of calling an 0845 number or waiting in a queue for information.
“Due to the non-action by Thames Water, there was some panic and even incidents of violence on the estate, many elderly were left uninformed, thirsty and unable to flush toilets.”
He added: “It appears Thames Water is now owned by an Australian company – perhaps it doesn’t give a Castlemaine XXXX for the residents of Bretch Hill.” Quite.
